Purging is done through excessive exercising, taking laxatives, or vomiting. Most people with bulimia are considered healthy hence easy to mistake the disorder. Binge eating disorder involves the uptake of food in large quantities. People tend to think they are in control and can also plan these binges. Characteristics of people who binge eat are eating large amounts of food complete and eating alone to avoid self-guilt embarrassment.
Effect on the mouth
Eating disorders have adverse effects on your oral health and body health. The people who suffer from these disorders have vitamin and mineral deficiencies. These deficiencies lead to improper body functioning, and it can shut down. There are various oral signs of eating disorders. Sensitive teeth, mouth sores, dry mouth, enamel erosion, tooth decay, and enlarged salivary glands. Erosion of tooth enamel is due to acids that come from the stomach as they vomit.
