Full Mouth Reconstruction
Columbus, OH

smiling man at Raptou Family Dental after a full mouth reconstruction by Dr. RaptouWhen your teeth suffer damage or decay, treatment is needed right away. These issues can compromise the structural integrity of the affected teeth as well as your oral health. If teeth near the front of your mouth are affected, these issues can also impact the quality of your smile. At Raptou Family Dental we can restore your oral health and repair your smile with full mouth reconstructions.

Composite Fillings

Cavities are a common dental issue. They can usually be treated with a filling. Traditionally, amalgam fillings have been used. These fillings, made from a mixture of metals suspended in mercury, are incredibly strong when they are cured. However, they are silver in color. If you have a cavity in your front tooth, a silver filling will stand against the rest of your natural tooth structure, significantly impacting your smile.

Composite fillings are tooth colored restorations. Instead of amalgam, your cavity is filled with composite resin. This is a metal and mercury free alternative that is made up of a mixture of fine glass, plastic, and other materials. Once cured inside of the cavity, the filling blends in with the rest of your tooth.

Porcelain Bridges

A bridge is a traditional restoration used to replace a missing tooth. A fixed bridge, the most common type of bridge, consists of a replacement tooth and two dental crowns. The replacement tooth, called a pontic tooth, fills in the empty space left behind by your missing tooth. The dental crowns sit one on each side of the pontic tooth. They are there to anchor the tooth in place on the adjacent teeth, or abutment teeth. Bridges help to restore your abilities to bite and chew food, restore your speech, and improve your oral health.

Porcelain bridges not only restore your oral health, but they also restore your smile. We can stain the porcelain so that it matches the exact color of your natural teeth. Additionally, the material reflects light just like your natural tooth enamel. Your restoration blends in perfectly with the rest of your teeth. No one will be able to tell that it is there.

Porcelain Crowns

Crowns are a common restoration for treating physically damaged teeth or decayed teeth that cannot be treated with a filling. This particular restoration resembles a small cap in appearance and is made to encase the entire crown of your natural tooth. It functions to prevent further damage, protect against infections, and restore strength to the affected tooth so that it can function normally within your mouth. By restoring the damaged tooth, you avoid the need for a tooth extraction and replacement.

In addition to protecting your damaged tooth and restoring your oral health, a porcelain crown also functions to improve the appearance of your smile. Porcelain is a metal-free option, providing an alternative to all metal and porcelain fused to metal crowns. The material matches the exact color of your natural teeth and reflects light just like your natural tooth enamel. It is the perfect option for restoring damaged and decayed teeth at the front of your mouth.

With full mouth restorations, we can restore your oral health as well as the appearance of your smile. For more information, and to schedule your consultation, call Raptou Family Dental today at (614) 427-0449.
